We Are Coming

Who We Are
The QAC started with the idea that the queer experience needs to be shared honestly and wholeheartedly. So often, queer stories have been told with a tragic ending, used as clickbait, or portrayed in a negative light. We don't want to hide the parts of being queer that hurt, but we do want to showcase emotional breadth of what is is to be a part of this community. Instead of being brought up on the idea that being queer means being faced with endless adversity, wouldn't it be nice to show the world, especially young people, that being queer also comes with hope, with its own special kind of joy and love?

Art is a cornerstone of culture. If we can showcase and bring to light queer artists telling the whole story of their experiences through art and media, we get to flip the script and show people the depth of who we are and what we experience. A wide range of intersectional queer perspectives in art will give us agency in how the story is told.

Our Goals
In the short term, we plan on hosting pop-up art events for showcasing, creating, and selling queer art, building a vibrant social media presence to connect queer artists and patrons, and organizing informal meetups for queer artists to network and collaborate.
Our longer term goal is to open up a space of our own where queer artists and community members can gather, create, host workshops, exhibit work, and more-- a multipurpose creative space for the queer community.
